A mobile court has fined two teachers of Phulkuri Pre-Cadet School in Pirganj Upazila for secretly coaching students amid the novel coronavirus crisis.
Zahirul Islam, 35, and Ikramul Haque, 34, were arrested by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tariqul Islam at the coaching centre under the direction of Fulkuri Pre-Cadet School headmaster Mohsin Ali on Thursday morning. He was arrested and taken to the police station.
Later, Pirganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Tariqul Islam sentenced the two teachers to one month’s imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 8,000 under Section 25-1 (b) of the Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control Act 2016. Headmaster Mohsin Ali released them with a fine. Pirgandhsadh Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Roy confirmed the incident.
