Two suspected robbers were killed in a lynch-mob attack at Sondaha Kanelpara area under Santhia upazila in Pabna on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Shaheen alias Holka Shaheen, 45, of Jorgachha village, and Machhir alias Kalu, 35, of Daramucha village at the upazila.

Police claimed that they were members of the Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party, who are known for their criminal activities. They were wanted in various cases filed on charges of robbery and possessing explosives.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Santhia Police Station Jahangir Hossain said when a gang of robbers were attempting to commit robbery in the village at night, local people caught two of them and gave them a good beating, leaving them seriously injured.

Two other gang members managed to flee from the spot, OC said. On information, police rescued the injured robbers and admitted them to Santhia Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were shifted to Pabna General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
