Two magical concerts enthrall band music lovers at ICCB

Band shows and live concerts are back in the city in full swing, and the band music lovers were mesmerized by two fantabulous shows at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Friday.

 At ICCB’s Hall 4 (Novoratri), seven popular bands grooved the audiences while showcasing a befitting tribute to the riverine beauty of Bangladesh at the ‘Nodi Rocks Season 1’ concert.

Focusing on the issue of climate change, the concert was initiated by Salt Creatives while hosted by Brandmyth Experiential, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, and facilitated by the Manusher Jonno Foundation.

Seven of the popular Bangladeshi bands - Arbovirus, Cryptic Fate, Chirkutt, Ashes, Smooches, Bangla Five and F Minor, who have previously performed in seven music videos on seven Bangladeshi rivers - Padma, Chitra, Kushiyara, Dahuk, Pashur, Buriganga and Sangu, performed at the concert.

The bands performed their respective songs on their respective rivers - Arbovirus performed on Padma river, Smooches on Chitra, Cryptic Fate on Kushiyara, F Minor on Dahuk, Bangla Five on Pashur, Ashes on Buriganga and Sangu was featured by Chirkutt, alongside many of their iconic and fan-favourite tracks.

However, the concert stood out as one of the historic live events in the Bangladeshi band music scene, as this was the very last concert of Sufi Maverick with Arbovirus, the iconic lead vocalist and frontman of the popular rock band for the last 19 years.

Fans and admirers gathered under the Novoratri roof to witness his last stage performance with the band, and Sufi returned the love by performing the most popular tracks of Arbovirus one after another, including ‘Hariye Jao,’ ‘Jaalo Aagun Jaalo,’ ‘School’ and more.

Rock music enthusiasts were also grooved by the amazing performances of Ashes, Bangla Five Band and Cryptic Fate, alongside the nostalgic performance of Arbovirus, while all-girls indigenous band F Minor and pop band smooches mesmerized the fans with their melodious numbers.

Chirkutt was the showstopper of the night, and its founding vocalist Sharmin Sultana Sumi who is the initiator of the ‘Nodi Rocks’ project, conveyed her vote of thanks to the audience while reminding everyone of the importance of protecting rivers in riverine Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, one of the most famous and highly revered, generational singers-musicians-music directors of the country and band team Dalchhut’s founder-vocalist Bappa Mazumder’s first-ever solo concert was held at ICCB’s Hall 3 on Friday night.

The concert, titled ‘ALIVE Experience Chapter 1’ was joined by a houseful of Bappa Mazumder fans and admirers, who witnessed a magical solo night of the popular superstar where he performed his majestic and fan-favourite tracks one after another.

On this celebratory night of his glorious career of over 30 years, fans were mesmerized by Bappa Mazumder’s amazing performances for straight four hours at the event, who was accompanied by several popular singers including Dilshad Nahar Kona, Somnur Monir Konal, Shuvo, Farhin Khan Joyita, Saif Uz Zaman, Sazzad Hossain Shawon, Musharrat Anchal and more.

The concert was presented by AirAstra and organised by CarrotComm Limited, while audio and video music streaming service Shadhin was the streaming partner.
