Two lakh citizens to be given second dose Covid jab in Khulna

At least two lakh doses of Covid-19 inoculation, the second dose of Covid-19 jabs programme has begun here today when the pandemic situation continues improving very consistently.

A total of 2, 01,000 second doses of Covid-19 inoculation will be given in the city and district during the programme. Of them, 61,500 doses inoculation in nine upazilas under the district while 1, 39,500 doses inoculation in the city, said Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr Sujat Ahmed.

Inoculation will be given in all 303 centres including 99 in the city and 204 in nine upazilas in Khulna district.

Citizens will be taken inoculation in three centers in each ward of the city corporation areas while three centres in each union of all the upazilas. Besides, 20 mobile centeres will be given inoculation in the city while 45 centres in nine upazila in the district, he said.

“We have set target to give inoculation in 500 people in each centres. At least two health workers, three volunteers already been deployed side by side with Ansar members,” he said.

Citizens are being taken second doses inoculation from 8am today, he said, adding that they will also have taken first, second and booster doses of Covid-19 jabs from the centres.

Citizens are being vaccinated with five types of Covid-19 jabs from

different companies like Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac across the city and district. Earlier, the Health Ministry has decided to give second doses of mass inoculation for Covid-19 from today across the country.

On February 7, 2020, first doses of vaccination programme for coronavirus was begun across the country while second doses was begun on April 8, two months later of first dose vaccination.

The booster dose was begun on December 28 last year, he said, adding that booster doses of inoculation programme will be continued in all public hospitals in Khulna.
