The detective branch (DB) of police arrested two drug paddlers in possession with 500 bottles of Phensedyl syrup from Jadabpur village in Jheniadha’s Moheshpur upazila on Thursday evening.
The arrestees were identified as Ramjan Ali, son of late Mijanur Rahman and Arif Hossain, son of Ayub Ali of Krishnapur Betbaria of the bordering upazila, the DB sources said.
DB officer in-charge quoting the superintendent of police (SP) Muntasirul Islam said the DB men were informed that two separate consignments of contra banned Indian phensedyl syrup was arrived at the bordering area at Jadabpur.
As per the information the detective police personnel led by sub inspector Selim Reza along with his men had conducted separate drives and arrested the duo.
The law enforcers had seized the contra banned drugs from two plastic sachets from their possession.
Police super Muntasirul Islam when contacted said the police will not entertain any relax on drug and smuggling at any place in the district as a pledge of the law enforcing agency men police.
The arrested duos with the seized drugs were handed over to local police, SP said.
