Two held with 124-kg ganja

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in two separate anti-crime operations, arrested two alleged drug-peddlers with 124 kilograms of ganja in the district Sunday night. 

The arrested persons were identified as Riad Islam alias Don, 30, son of Rustam Ali and Muhammad Abdullah, 29, son of Liakat Ali, RAB sources said. 

On a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a raid in Naodapara area under Shahmukhdum Police Station in the metropolis around 8.30 pm and arrested Riad Islam Don with 99 kilograms of hemp red-handed, RAB sources said.

In another drive conducted in Bypass area under Belpukur Police Station, another team of the elite force arrested Abdullah with 25 kilograms of ganja red-handed around 7.30 pm.

On a tip-off, a RAB team has also unearthed a liquor manufacturing factory at Dumuria village under Godagari Upazila in the district. The team seized 2,125 litres of liquor and arrested Jasod Tudu, 27, son of late Deben Tudu, and Hiralal Mormu, 30, son of late Mangra Mormu, on charge of manufacturing, preservation and selling of liquor. 

Three separate cases were lodged with the respective police stations in these connections and the arrestees with the seized contraband goods were handed over to the police.
