A Narail court on Monday sentenced two men to life-term imprisonment in a drug case.
The convicts are Md Lintu Miah and Nazmul Huda.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000, in default, they will have to suffer two months more in jail.
Additional District and Sessions Judge-2 Md Saiful Alom gave the verdict in presence of convict Nazmul Huda. Another convict Lintu Miah was absent in the court.
According to the prosecution, in brief, acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid in front of Sitarampur Police check-post on Narail-Jashore road under Narail Sadar Upazila on December 26 in 2009 and arrested Lintu and Nazmul with phensedyl. Police also seized a motorcycle at the time.
A case was filed with Narail Sadar Thana against the duo on the same day. Investigating Officer (IO) of the case submitted charge-sheet against them.
After hearing the 6 witnesses and examining other relevant evidence, the court handed down the punishment.
