Two minor girls, cousins of each other, drowned in a pond at Jibannagar in Chuadanga on Saturday.
The deceased were identified grade-three student Tabassum, 7, daughter of Ashraful Islam and her cousin grade-two student Ritu Khanom, 6, Raju Ahammed, residents Shakharia village of the Upazila.
Locals said the children drowned in a pond near to their house when they went to play there at around 12:30pm. Locals rescued their bodies from the pond.
Confirming the matter, Jibannagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Jabid Hasan said on information police rushed to the spot.
