Two cos fined Tk 50,000 for making ‘BETI’ brand vermicelli in Bogura

A mobile court was set up at Bogura Sadar On Wednesday at the joint initiative of Bogura District Administration and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI). Messrs Janata Food Products and Messrs Islamia Lacka & Semcai located in Rajabazar area are illegally producing and selling 'Semai (Brand: Rolex & Kulsum)' without using BSTI quality certificate and using BSTI's standard logo on the wrapper. According to the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Act, 2016, a total fine of Tk 50,000 was imposed on each fined Tk 25,000.

Earlier, market monitoring was held in Rajabazar area. Weighing instruments and price lists are verified.

Junaid Ahmed, Inspector (CM Wing) of BSTI District Office, Bogra, acted as the Prosecutor in the mobile court headed by Palash Chandra Sarkar, Wise Executive Magistrate, Bogura.

Md Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Director (Metrology Wing) of BSTI and members of Armed Police Battalion Bangladesh (APBN) were present on the occasion. Such campaigns will continue regularly in the public interest.
