Two cos fined for hoarding soybeans oil in Ctg

The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has imposed a fine of Tk 80,000 on two companies named Jamal & Brothers and Binimoy Store at Cornelhat in Chattogram for illegally stockpiling soybean oil. The consumer rights campaign team received 4,000 liters of oil from Jamal & Brothers' warehouse and 130 liters from the Binimoy store. The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate conducted the campaign on Wednesday. The campaign was led by Md. Anisur Rahman, Assistant Director of Chattogram Divisional Office, Department of National Consumer Protection.

 Assistant Director Md. Anisur Rahman said, ‘2 companies were creating crisis by stockpiling soybean and palm oil.  These oils are stockpiled for sale at higher prices.  During the operation, 4,000 liters of oil was recovered from Jamal & Brothers in Cornelhat and 130 liters from an Binimoy store.  The operation was carried out on the basis of secret information.

 During the raid, Jamal & Brothers were fined Tk 50,000 and Binimoy Store Tk 30,000.  Also 130 liters stored in the Binimoy store.  These bottled soybeans are sold to immediate buyers.
