The district administration and fire service imposed a fine of Tk 3.5 lakh on Esack Container Depot located in Halishahar of Chattogram city and a garment named Adila Apparels Limited located in Banglabazar due to lack of fire safety plan and adequate fire extinguishers.
Chattogram District Administration Executive Magistrate Prateek Dutta raided Esack Container Depot located in Halishahar and Adila Apparels Limited Garments located in Banglabazar on Saturday.
An unlicensed petrol pump was found at the Esack depot. Besides, the container depot has been in business for the past 22 years but has never approved or implemented a fire safety plan. Besides, there were thousands of containers but there were only 350 fire extinguishers. The company was fined Tk 2 lakh and directed to apply for the petrol pump within 7 days.
On the other hand, a garment named Adila Apparels Limited near Dubash Ghat in Banglabazar was fined Tk 1.5 lakh for not having fire safety plan and adequate fire extinguishers, underground water tank and alternative exit plan.
Chattogram District Administration Executive Magistrate Prateek Dutta said that a container depot with 2 companies has been fined Tk 3.5 lakh due to lack of fire safety plan and adequate fire extinguishers.
