Two companies fined for charging high onion prices

Two companies were fined Tk 35,000 in two cases in a special operation of a mobile court in Noakhali to control the rise of onions. The operation was carried out at various places including the municipal market of Noakhali district town Maijdi this afternoon.

According to the mobile court, Kajal & Sons of Maijdi Power Bazar was fined Rs 15,000 and Ahmed Ullah Trudos was fined a total of Rs 35,000 including Rs 20,000 for selling onions in Noakhali at exorbitant prices.

Noakhali Sadar Upazila Land Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Mohammad Zakaria conducted a special operation of the mobile court at that time. District Consumer Rights Assistant Director Mohammad Kauser Mia and Sudharam Model Police Station assisted in the operation.
