Two college students went missing while taking a bath at Sree Rampur T-embankment area of the city around 11-30 AM Saturday. Fire Service personnel started an operation to rescue the missing students.
The missing college students were identified as Sarwar Naim (17) from Meherchandi area under Motihar police station and Riat Khandker Galib (17) son of Khaja Mainuddin of Dargapara area under Boalia police station. Both of the missing are HSC first-year students of Rajshahi Cantonment Public School and College.
Ohidul Islam, Deputy Director of Fire Service, Rajshahi, informed they came to learn about the incident at 11-35 AM and started a search operation for the missing students soon.
After searching up to 2-00 PM, they failed to detect their position. He opined the student might be drowned in the river as they did not know how to swim.
Tamina Khatun, auntie of Galib informed, two friends went out of the house to take a bath in the river around 11-00 AM and around 12-00 noon she came to learn that they went missing in the river Padma.
