Two brothers arrested in Jhenaidha for usury

The policemen in Kaliganj of Jhenaidah had arrested two usurers brothers with Taka 22.5 lakh and huge non-judicial stamps used for the usurious activities. They were arrested from village Barataliantala under of Kaliganj in Jhenaidah on Sunday morning. The arrested duo was identified as Rezaul Islam, and Sariful Islam, both sons of Abdul Bark of village Barataliantala, the police said.

Kaliganj police station officer in charge (OC) Abdur Rahima Mollah when contacted said the duo has been investing huge money among the need people in the locality and surrounding areas considering their financial constraints for years together. They have been allegedly collecting bank cheques and non-judicial stamps from the money borrowers in advance. When the borrowers failed to fulfill additional charge, they had defalcated their properties showing the cheques and stamps. 

On thebasis ofallegation from the affected persons, a contingent of police with the help of locals had managed to grill the duo brothers and seized cast Taka 22.50 lakh and four non-judicial stamps and a register for keeping accounts of the money borrowers. The arrested were produced in a Jhenaidah court for speedy trial, OC said.
