Two motorcyclists were killed and another person was injured as a covered van collided head on with a motorcycle on Tangail-Mymensingh road in Kadamtali area under Ghatail Upazila of Tangail on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain Badshah, 48, son of Julhas Mia, resident of Kadamtali area under Ghatail Upazila of Tangail and Juwel, 45, resident of Kashtala area of the district.
Police and local sources said the accident occurred when a mini covered van collided head on with the motorcycle in the area at around 8:45am, leaving three people injured critically. On information, Ghatail Thana Police rushed to the spot and sent the trio to Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared Alamgir Hossain Badshah dead. On the other hand, another motorcyclist Juwel was taken to Kalihati Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead. Another critically injured motorcyclist, Samsuzzaman Adil, was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better
treatment.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ghatail Police Station Belal Hossain said there were three motorcyclists. The motorcycle collided head on with a covered van in Kadamtali area of the district. Two of the motorcyclists were killed in the accident.
Their bodies will be handed over to their family members after the legal procedures, he added.
