A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of the district police has arrested two persons for snatching a CNG autorickshaw and killing its driver in Mymensingh. Ishwarganj on Friday night through the use of information technology in the long investigation of the incident
They raided several places in the upazila and arrested the killers.
The arrested killers are- Md. Abul Mansur's son from Dattapara village of Ishwarganj upazila. Abu Raihan (25), Mozammel Haque (19) son of Nur Ahmed Milon of Gangpara village and Md. Abdul Latif son of Dhamdi village. Ziaur Rahman Saidul (21).
District DB Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad confirmed the information to reporters at a press conference on Saturday at noon. Shafiqul Islam.
DB's OC Md. Shafiqul Islam said the snatchers killed autorickshaw driver Mozammel Hossain, 21, in Mymensingh on February 14 by wrapping a muffler around his neck. They then dumped the body on the side of Mrigali Road in Ishwarganj Upazila and fled with his CNG-powered autorickshaw and mobile phone. The next day (February 15), the victim's father filed a murder case with the Ishwarganj Police Statio accusing unknown persons.
He further said that the killers hired Mozammel Hossain's autorickshaw and arrived in Mymensingh city and left for Ishwarganj late at night. On the way back, they said Mozammel's mobile phone to his father. Farid called Mia and asked her to send 20,000 rupees through bKash.
However, as they did not send the money as promised, the killers wrapped a muffler around Mozammel's neck and killed him by suffocating him. He then left the body on the side of the road and fled with the CNG autorickshaw and mobile phone.
The OC further said that during the preliminary interrogation, the arrested accused confessed to the murder. He also said that legal action is being taken in this case.
