Twins conjoined at abdomen born

Conjoined twins with a single Belly (intestine) but without any Anus was born through Cesarean operation at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital early morning on Monday. 

One of the twins is male and another is female. They have separate hands, legs, bodies and heads but have only one belly joined together having no anus. The mother of the conjoined twins has been identified as Anguri Begum, 35, wife of Rubel Hossain of Bidirpur village under Chapainawabganj sadar Upazila. 

Anguri Begum with her conjoined twin babies has been released from the hospital at 2:00 PM on Tuesday. They returned to their village home.  

Earlier on Monday morning, Anowara Begum, grandma of Anguri Begum, was seen to weep with the conjoined babies on her lap on the bed of ward-22 while Anguri Begum was sleeping. Relatives of Anguri and the attendants of other patients gathered near the bed to have a look at the conjoined twins.

Relatives of Anguri informed, Anguri was at first admitted to a clinic of Chapainawabganj when she felt labour pain. After Ultrasonogram test, doctors at the clinic referred her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. She was admitted to RMCH around 2:00 am on Monday and the conjoined twins were born through Cesaerean Operation in the early morning. 

Anowara Begum informed, the children have two hands, two legs, two heads with complete features (mouth, lips, eyes, skull, hair, ears etc.) but they have only one belly. Their anus is not visible and the sex-organs are also not distinct but the doctors said, of the twins, one is male and another is female. 

Anowara begum further said, her daughter Anguri has two sons aged 18 and 15 years. Now, with the conjoined twins, they have no idea how to deal with them. Anowara said, they are poor and they have no ability to treat the babies. They would go to Dhaka with the babies after collecting some money. 

Dr. Nargis Shamima Swapna, on-duty physician at the Gynae ward of RMCH refused to comment about the physical condition of the babies.

Dr. Saiful Ferdous, Deputy Director of RMCH informed, conjoined twins with the single belly has been born. They have no Anus. They need surgery for the anus. They have been advised to go to Dhaka with the babies as soon as possible.
