A truck with 48,000 yaba worth about Tk 1.44 crore was seized in a raid in Char Farid area of Karnaphuli police station. RAB-7 arrested two drug dealers with driver of truck in the incident.
This information was confirmed by RAB-7 Assistant Director Md. Nurul Abshar on Friday night.
The arrested are truck driver Md Farhadur Rahman Shaon, 31, son of late Shafiqur Rahman of Eidgaon Kacha Bazar area of Karnafhuli police station and Md Tawfiq, 21, son of deceased Zamir of the same area.
RAB-7 Assistant Director Md Nurul Abshar said a truck stopped on the paved road in front of the Hazrat Tayabshah CNG Limited on the Cox's Bazar-Chattogram Highway at around 12pm on Friday in front of the RAB checkpost. During the interrogation, 48,000 pieces of yaba were found hidden in the air cylinder of the truck in his possession.
The truck (Chattra Metro-THA-11-5074) was seized.
He added that for a long time, he has been collecting drugs from the border areas of Cox's Bazar district and later selling them to drug dealers and drug users in different parts of the country including Chattogram.
The estimated value of the recovered drugs is Tk 1 crore 44 lakh and the estimated value of the seized truck is Tk 50 lakh.
They have been handed over to Karnaphuli police station.
