Without the permission of Dinajpur Social Forest Department, 13 trees including Eucalyptus, Minjiri, Mahogany, worth about 7 thousand rupees were purchased through oral auction in the name of Peon Tofajjal of Chandganj Degree College for only 47 thousand rupees and there were complaints of money loss.

According to locals, the incident of cutting the trees took place on 04 February 2023 at Chandganj Degree College in Dinajpur Sadar.

In this regard, the principal of this college, Mofazzal Hossain, said that the trees were cut as per the rules. He expressed his inability to show the necessary documents.

Khatibuddin, the current president of the college management committee of Chandganj Degree College, was contacted but could not be found.

Raihan Sharif, the former president of the management committee of the said college, told this representative that he served as the president of the college for 6 years. He said, during my tenure, I never applied to the forest department to cut the trees of the college.

The current college principal, Mofazzal Hossain, took charge just three months ago. The current college management committee is only 75 days old. In this situation, there is no question of sanctioning tree felling.

Regarding tree cutting, Divisional Forest Officer of Dinajpur Social Forest Department Md. Bashirul Al Mamun said that no complaint has been received in our office regarding tree cutting.

As I learned about the matter, necessary legal action will be taken subject to investigation.
