Tree plantation for a green nature stressed

Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid has stressed on massive tree plantation for building a green nature amid changing climate.

"Tree plantation can create an eco-friendly green nature for adapting to adverse impacts of climate change and bringing ecological equilibrium to attain sustainable economic development," he said. The vice-chancellor made the observation while inaugurating a tree plantation campaign on the university campus here in observance of the World Environment Day-2022 on Sunday afternoon as the chief guest.

He planted a sapling of betel plant in front of the administrative building on the university campus on the occasion.

Professor Dr. Rashid said the importance of trees in natural decoration alongside tackling natural disasters, preventing adverse effects of climate change and maintaining natural balance is immense.

He urged the new generations to plant tree saplings in their educational institutions, homesteads, roadside areas and fallow lands to build a green nature with eye-catching looks all-around to save the environment from further degradation.

Proctor of the University Md. Golam Rabbani, Director of the Office of External Affairs Md. Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, General Secretary of Begum Rokeya University Teachers' Association Syed Anwarul Azim, Associate Professor of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems Apel Mahmud, Assistant Professor of the Department of Political Science Md. Saiful Islam, teachers, students, officers and employees were present.
