A Seven-day long Tree Fair-2024 was inaugurated in district shilpakala academy premises of Narail on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00pm.
Social Forestry Division under forest department and district administration jointly organized the fair to create awareness among people on the enormous importance of tree plantations adapting to climate change and improve the environment.
Different organisations, nursery owners and entrepreneurs have set up 12 stalls on the fairground displaying saplings of timber, fruit, medicinal tree, and ornamental plants.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Narail Linkon Biswas presided over the inaugural session while Narail deputy commissioner (DC) Sharmin Akhter Jahan attended as the chief guest.
Assistant Conservator of Narail Forest Amita Mondal, Additional Deputy Director of District Agriculture Department Md Zahidul Islam Biswas spoke as special guests.
Officials and employees of the district administration, Department of Agricultural Extension, Department of Forest, nursery owners, students, teachers, farmers and common people were also present at the programme.
Later, fruit tree saplings were distributed among students of the district town.
