Trapped deer rescued, released in Sundarbans

A trapped male barking deer has been rescued by the officials of the forest department from the backyard of a house in Joymoni area under Chandpai range of the Sundarbans on Sunday.

Forest department sources said, “After getting information, we rushed to the spot where the deer was trapped in an abandoned net on Sunday morning. We rescued the deer and brou­ght it to our office for primary treatment.” Forest department official MizanurRahman said, “We heard that a barking deer was trapped in a net in the area. We rescued the deer and provided primary treatment as there were some minor injury marks on its body. Later, we released the deer in the Sundarbans.”

“It is a male barking deer. It weighs around 15-20 Kgs,” he added.
