Information and Broadcasting Minister and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud said that when BNP calls a rally, the transport owners and workers are all in panic. Because in the past in 2013-15 BNP burnt bus-trucks. They attacked buses and trucks and public property. That is why the owners and workers called a strike. So it has nothing to do with the government.
He said that the transport strike is a private organization. There are leaders of BNP, Jatiya Party, Jasad, Basad, Awami League there. All transport owners and workers associations together. They make decisions for their own various reasons.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud visited Chattogram's historical polo ground on Saturday morning. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the public meeting organized by Awami League at Polo Ground on December 4 as the chief guest. The information minister said these things while visiting the field in response to journalists' questions.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, the millions of people will gather in Chattogram public meeting. As you know, BNP held a rally here a few days ago. One-third of the field was excluded and had a stage. Of the remaining two halves, half was empty. People are not what they say.
He said that there is a community hall in the corner of the polo ground where variety shows used to be held. A little more people have attended the BNP rally than the variety show. Jabbar's Boli khela in Chattogram also has three times more people than BNP's rally.
He said, I want to put a question to Mirza Fakhrul through the media, when BNP was in power, they attacked our assembly with grenades on August 21. Our various gatherings were attacked, bombs and grenades were attacked. Has there been a cracker in the BNP rally till today? Since the government is providing cooperation and security, crackers are not bursting.
