By breaking all the shackles, taboo of this stereotypical society, Tashnuva Anan Shishir, a member of the transgender community of Bangladesh, has begun her journey as the first transgender news presenter in the country.

Recently she presented a regular news bulletin on Boishakhi TV and will now be seen presenting news bulletin on a regular basis. This can be termed as a revolutionary move for the transgender community of the country and she proved to the rest of the world that if men and women can do it, someone from the transgender community can do it as well. It will increasingly give her a prominent platform to make the case for equal rights for the transgenders, and them being vocal about being a woman.

Boishakhi TV’s initiative will encourage other

Government should also take more steps to promote and protect human rights of these underprivileged members of our society. Boishakhi TV’s initiative will encourage other institutions, and that includes both governmental and non-governmental, to promote the rights of vulnerable members of society.

People of this community have been neglected for decades. Tashnuva showed that they should live life as normal people and break the attitude and mindset of this stereotypical society.

From her story we can learn that every gender should be knowledgeable and appreciable about their talent and work. In order to prove an individual’s worth to the world, they must rise beyond any sort of difficulty and work relentlessly towards their goal, just like Tashnuva did. If this happens then, definitely in the foreseeable future, the mindset of the stereotypical society of our country will be unlike what we witness today.
