Training workshop on fact-checking held

A training workshop on fact-checking and its effect was held at the office of The Bangladesh Post in Dhaka city on Sunday (November 24, 2024). A number of journalists working with the English daily took part in the workshop.  

The workshop was arranged under the initiative of AAJA-Asia Training Network. 

Qadaruddin Shishir, a Dhaka based leading fact-checker and the fact-check editor of the AFP’s Dhaka bureau, was present as the trainer at the workshop. He spoke on misinformation, disinformation, fake news and rumors circulating on mainstream media outlets. He also spoke on the method of justifying source of information and the effect of fabricated news content.

Qadaruddin Shishir said that like everywhere else, the media outlets in Bangladesh are also dealing with misinformation and fake news. More training for journalists of mainstream media of Bangladesh is needed to raise awareness of misinformation and disinformation.
