Training from Presiding, Assistant Presiding and Polling Officers for the Chattogram City Corporation elections began at four centers in the city on Monday.
The training centers are CDA Public School and College, Rahmania High School, Pahartali Girls School and College, Agrabad Government Colony High School (Girls Branch).
Returning Officer Mohammad Hasanuzzaman said the training of officials is underway ahead of the City Corporation elections. A total of 16,163 officials are undergoing training to ensure smooth polling. Of these, 5,902 are Presiding and Assistant Presiding Officers and 1268 are Polling Officers.
The training will run for 5 days at nine venues in the city.
Incidentally, a total of 236 candidates with 7 mayoral candidates, are contesting in the January 27 CCC elections.
There are 735 polling stations in 41 wards. Voting will be by electronic voting machine (EVM).
The total number of voters in the city corporation area is 19 lakh 38 thousand 706 people. Of these, 9 lakh 46 thousand 673 are women and 9 lakh 92 thousand 33 are men.
