Train travel back to normal in the north

After being closed for 9 hours, the northern rail communication with Dhaka has been restored. Three bogies of Kurigram Express derailed on the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail around 12 midnight on Saturday. This closed the northern rail link with Dhaka.

This morning, a team arrived from Dhaka on the east bank of Bangabandhu Bridge and rescued the derailed bogies of Kurigram Express, establishing train travel once again.

Monir Ahmed, station master on the east bank of Bangabandhu Bridge, said the team arrived from Dhaka and lined up the bogies of Kurigram Express at around 8am after 9 hours of derailment. After that the train movement became normal again from 9 am. Firstly the Kurigram Express, then with the travelling of Nil Sagor and Lalmonirhat Express trains the rail travel got normalised.
