The Ministry of Railways has announced that measures have been taken to curb the black market of intercity train tickets. Uneducated low-income people are not aware of how to get tickets online. With this opportunity, the black market for train tickets has become active.

According to a source, online intercity train tickets are being sold at computer composing shops in several areas, including the Dinajpur railway station area. All these computer compose shop owners have 20 to 30 SIM cards and national identity cards.

As a result, it is seen that there are no tickets as soon as the train tickets start being sold online. And these tickets are sold at extra cost by miscreants around the train station.

From there the clients appear at the computer composing shop of their appointed syndicate. Then they tell the passenger that a ticket will cost 700 taka, even though an online ticket from Dinajpur to Dhaka is 485 taka. The shop owners claim that the tickets cost more because of internet charges and other charges.

If the passenger does not have a national identity card, they charge 1200 taka. The question is where are they getting these unknown national identity cards and mobile numbers?

On the other hand, on 27th August, 2020, Mobile Court Judge Md Abdul Wahed fined 3 people Tk 35,000 for blackmailing tickets under Section 50 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, Case No. 361/2020.

The fined individuals are Mohan Kumar Das (28), son of Swapan Chandra Roy of Paharpur, Sadar, Dinajpur, an employee called Nayan of Nazrul Islam, owner of New Corner Computer Compose shop at Station Chattar and Anisur Rahman.
