Trader fined for hoarding paddy in Dinajpur

A mobile court in Dinjapur fined a trader Tk 50,000 at Ghoraghat upazila in Dinajpur district on the charge of illegally hoarding paddy.

The mobile court, led by upazila nirbahi officer Md Rafiqul Islam, on Thursday, conducted a raid at Raniganj Bazar and imposed the fine. Rafiqul Islam said, "Rice trader Md Shahjalal illegally hoarded a total of 400 sacks of paddy.

The mobile court then raided at his establishment and fined him Tk 50,000 under Section 19(Ka) of Agricultural Marketing Act, 2018." In addition he asked to sell the paddy as early as possible."

Assistant commissioner (Land) Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge Asaduzzaman Asad, upazila food controller Yunus Ali Mandal, food inspector Abu Raihan and Raniganj food warehouse Rejbanul Haque, among others, were present at that time.
