Trader arrested while stealing govt rice from godown

Police at Gabtoli thana under Bogura district has arrested a trader with 15 tonnes of government rice from Sabekpara Food Godown area on Friday. 

Police also held Food Storage Officer and the guard of the Food Storage in this connection.  The arrested trader has been identified as Azahar Ali son of Amjad Hossain  alias Shahen Shahof village Tarakandi while the held Food Godown Officer and the Guard have been identified a  Gazi Shafiqul Islam and  Sadequel Islam respectively of Sabekpara Food Godown.

According to sources, rice was being loaded on the truck even on the holiday of Friday from Sabekpara Government Food Godown which created suspicion among local people. 

The people of the locality informed the incident to the police when the police rushed to the spot and seized the truck with rice.  

Nuruzzaman, Officer-in-charge of Gabtoli police station informed, on early hours of Friday, police arrested Azahar Ali son of Amjad Hossain alias Shehan Shah while he was trying to carry 15 metric tonnes of rice on a truck from the government Food Godown of Sabekpara under Gabtoli upazila. 

Both Azhar and the rice laden truck was brought  to the police station and Azhar was arrested as he failed to answer questions of the police officer about transporting of rice.  Police also took to the custody to  Sabekpare Food Godown Officer Gazi Shafiqul Islam and the Guard Sadequl Islam in this connection. 

Gabtoli Food Officer Harun-ur-Rashid informed, the Food Godown has been sealed off following the incident and departmental case will be filed against the responsible Food Godown Officer and the Guard if they are found guilty after investigation.

District Food Controller Saiful Islam in this connection informed, a tree-member enquiry committee has been formed to investigate into the incident and proper action will be taken against the responsible persons in accordance with the enquiry committee report.
