Toxic injection pushed in child’s body

A human chain was formed in Laxmipur demanding the execution of Khuki Begum, the accused in the case of pushing a poisonous injection in the body of 19-month-old child Habibur Rahman. 

The human chain was organized on both sides of Laxmipur-Ramganj regional highway in Machimnagar area of Sadar upazila on Friday. 

Ensuring social distance, the locals participated in the human chain. The plaintiff Habib's grandfather Latu Mia, grandmother Rahima Begum and former joint convener of Sadar Upazila Swechchhasebak League Zafar Alam Joy were present at the time.

According to the case statement, Latu Mia filed a case with Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station on May 28, alleging that poison injection was pushed in the body of Habib. Khuki Begum was made the only accused in the case. 

Police raided the upazila at night and arrested Khuki Begum. Khuki is the wife of Abul Kashem of Char  village. The accused is currently in the district jail. Child Habib is the son of expatriate Nur Nabi of the same house in the same village. 

Participants in the human chain said the accused pushed a poisonous injection into the child's 

body with the intention of killing. The victim's family has been receiving various threats since she was arrested by the police. The participants in the human chain demanded that the woman be tried through a proper investigation.

It may be mentioned that on the afternoon of May 11, the woman allegedly took the child home and pushed three poisonous injections in his body. After hearing the screams, mother of the child Shamsunnahar rescued him from the woman's house.

The child is currently undergoing treatment at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College. According to doctors, the child's condition is not yet risk-free.
