Tourists flock to Kuakata for weekend, public holiday

Tourists are flocking to Kuakata sea beach in Patuakhali to enjoy three consecutive days of vacation. Overcoming the fear of Corona virus, thousands of tourists have come to visit Kuakata this time to spend the vacation amid the natural beauty of Kuakata. 

Due to global Corona epidemic, the number of tourists visiting Kuakata from early March to September last year was very low but it started to grow slowly from October. 

Local traders, tourist police and others believe that thousands of tourists have arrived to get away from the captivity they were in because of the corona crisis. 

Tourist are seen walking all over the beach and their presence in the vicinity of Kuakata is also eye-catching. Police patrols have been intensified at various points on the beach for the safety of these tourists. After enjoying the sunrise and sunset on the beach, tourists rush to the Adi Kua of Rakhine or Rakhine village. 

Adjacent to Kuakata Zero Point is a spectacular pagoda, Rakhine Women's Market, Sheema Monastery in Mishripara and various other places including Eco Park, Lemburchar, Shutkipalli and Ilish Park in Kuakata. Moreover, boats were ready for additional entertainment of the tourists. Some spent time sitting under an umbrella on the beach, observing the magnificent view of the seawater and the sun. 

Md. Abul Kalam Azad, 30, who came from Khulna, said that the scene of enjoying sunrise and sunset standing in the same place could only be enjoyed from Kuakata. 

Al-Amin Khan Ujjal, Operations Manager of Residential Hotel Oceanview, said, “All the rooms in our hotel is already booked”. Md. Sabuj Mridha, Operator of Confidence Tourist Center, said, “Tourists visiting Kuakata get information from us about different tourist sports”. 

Motaleb Sharif, Secretary of the Kuakata Hotel Motel Owners’ Association said tourists had already booked hotels in the past one week. Kuakata hotels and motels are fully reserved. We have taken measures to keep the tourists in compliance with the hygiene rules. 

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Tourist Police Kuakata Zone Md. Sohrab Hossain said, “We are working diligently to provide safety for the tourists. Security measures have also been beefed up at various places in Kuakata marking this long weekend”.
