The government is planning to launch a mobile application through which tourists from anywhere in the world would be able to avail government run hotel-motel tourism services.
The mobile apps is being designed mainly to attract more international tourists besides locals who can have prior knowledge on the facilities before deciding to avail any services.
Hotel-motel reservation service of the state-run tourism corporation would be launched through a website. Within the next one month, customers will be able to receive this service using their smart mobile phone. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali disclosed this information while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation’s hotel-motel online booking service at his secretariat office in the capital on Wednesday.
He said, “Since its inception, the management and service delivery of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation has undergone many changes and measures have been taken to modernize its services as per the demand. As part of this, online booking system of hotels and motels of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation is being launched today.”
The state minister said, “Using this tourist-friendly software, tourists from any part of the world can make room bookings of hotels and motels of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and make payments through debit cards, credit cards and mobile banking.”
“The use of the software will improve the internal management of the tourism corporation and at the same time strengthen the monitoring system of each of its hotels and motels to ensure proper accountability. There will be an opportunity to give feedback to the customers and there will be an opportunity to resolve the objections related to the service,” the state minister added.
Mahbub Ali said, “The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working sincerely for the development and growth of the tourism industry in Bangladesh. As part of this, the infrastructural and operational development and reform activities of the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, built by the father of the nation, are underway.”
Ali also said, “Bangladesh Tourism Corporation has got its own state-of-the-art tourism building in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka with the kind guidance and determination of the Prime Minister. The renovation work of Hotel Vacation and National Hotel and Tourism Training Institution at Tejgaon in Dhaka is nearing completion. There are also hotels, motels and restaurants under Bangladesh Tourism Corporation to provide tourism facilities in Parki, Bagerhat, Shalna in Gazipur, Kazipur in Sirajganj, Lalakhal in Sylhet, Comilla, Natore, Vijaypur in Netrokona, Ghajini in Sherpur and Bardi in Narayanganj.”
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mokammel Hossain was present as the special guest at the function presided over by the Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Md. Hannan Miah, senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation were also present on the occasion.
