‘Tourism sector creates opportunities for rural people’

Speakers at a virtual seminar highlighted the way to overcome the challenges in the development of rural tourism. They said the tourism sector has created the empowerment and employment opportunities for rural people, especially for the youths around the world. The virtual seminar on ‘Challenges and Possibilities in Rural Tourism Development’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Tuesday. IU Tourism and Hospitality Management department organised the seminar on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2020.

Javed Ahmed, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board was present at the event as the chief guest with Prof Dr M Mahbubul Arfin, chairman of the department, in the chair. 

Prof Dr Badruzzaman Vhuyan, chairman of Tourism And Hospitality Management department of Dhaka University,  Prof Dr Anayat Hossain, Chairman of the same department of Rajshahi University and Dr Amanur Rahman, editor of Daily Kushtia Times newspaper addressed the seminar as the discussants. M Shoriful Islam Jewel, Lecturer of the department conducted the seminar and over 200 students took the seminar.
