Chattogram Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said that there is no alternative to industrialization in building a developed, prosperous, smart Bangladesh in 2041.

That is why economic development is important.  The current industrial friendly government is working tirelessly to take this country to a high income country through economic development.  The casualties in several major accidents that have already occurred in the industrial city of Sitakunda Upazila are very sad.  From now on, we don't want to see any more accidents.  All concerned should be sincere in building industrialization by ensuring hundred percent safety including fire safety plan.

He said these things in the chief guest's speech at the workshop organized at Circuit House with participants to ensure safe management and risk mitigation of oxygen producing companies located in Chattogram on Monday morning.  The daylong workshop was organized by the district administration and in collaboration with GPH Ispat.

The Deputy Commissioner said, we want to implement the work support plan with the industrial zone of Sitakunda.  This requires everyone's cooperation.  If you want to build an industry, first of all you have to look at the safety of workers, owners and entrepreneurs.  No industrial plant should be operated without complying with the law and ensuring overall safety.  Everyone has to manage the organization within the rules.  Safety monitoring should be increased in factories.

He said that the main pillar of economic development is the worker and the safety of that worker, the safety of capital of entrepreneurs should be given importance.  7 people tragically died in an explosion at the Seema Oxygen Plant of Kadamarsul in Sitakunda on March 4.  Many others were seriously injured in this incident.  Eight months earlier, there was a major fire at the BM Container Depot at Sitakunda and the latest fire at the Unitex cotton warehouse on March 11.  Accidents, fires happen every year in Sitakunda. We want to adopt a master plan to prevent accidents in various places including industrial zone Sitakund a and Mirsharai.  Industries have also been established in Karnaphuli, Anwara, Hathazari areas.  We have to plan for those areas as well.

Additional District Magistrate, Chattogram Raqib Hasan presided over the workshop, among others Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shahadat Hossain, GPH Ispat Limited AMD Almas Shimul, Advisor Colonel (Retd) Showkat Osman and Media Advisor Ovik Osman among others spoke.
