Top ranking criminals Kamal and Sohail arrested with weapons in Raojan

In a significant operation, RAB-7 has recovered a large cache of weapons and arrested two top terrorists, Kamal Uddin (49) and his associate Sohail Ahmed, from the terrorism-affected upazila of Raujan in Chattogram. Kamal Uddin was known as a figure of terror in Noapara Union.

According to RAB, based on a tip-off, an operation was conducted in the early hours of Wednesday night at the new house of late freedom fighter Chairman Khayez Ahmed in Ward No. 4 of Noapara Union. After a lengthy operation, a large quantity of firearms and locally made weapons were recovered from the house.

The operation, which started at 1:00 AM, continued until 12:30 PM on Thursday. With the assistance of three RAB dog squads, weapons hidden in various parts of the house were seized. Around 1:00 PM, a press briefing was held by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, the Commander of RAB-7, where the recovered weapons were displayed in the presence of the arrested Kamal Uddin.

He stated that RAB had intensified special surveillance in Raujan following 17 murders committed in the area over the past 14 months. This raid was part of that effort. The recovered arms include: 11 single-barrel guns, 15 rounds of cartridges, 4 Chinese axes, 10 machetes (chapatis), 8 ramdas (large knives), 9 hockey sticks, 6 knives, 3 hammers, 3 saws, 2 boxes of firecrackers, One bottle of foreign liquor, 50 grams of cannabis.

The arrested Kamal Uddin is the son of the late freedom fighter Chairman Khayez Ahmed of Noapara Union. The other arrested individual, Sohail Ahmed, is the son of the late Ahmad Shafiq Ahmed from the same area. They are cousins.

Sources from Raujan Police Station indicate that there are three cases already filed against the arrested Kamal Uddin at the police station. RAB has stated that a new case regarding the weapons recovery is being processed.
