Tom Cruise enters Iñárritu’s upcoming movie

While Tom Cruise has been enjoying himself immensely in the last few years as he pilots and hangs off of aircraft in the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun franchises, he also wants to return to the kind of smaller-scale, auteur-driven work that brought him recognition in films like Magnolia. It seems he is found his decision now that he is reached an agreement with Warner Bros. Cruise will be the lead in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's upcoming, yet-to-be-titled movie.

The director is currently keeping the new project very secret, so not much is known about it. According to information obtained by Deadline, he wrote it in 2023 with Sabina Berman and his Birdman coauthors Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris.

Between the Oscar-winning The Revenant in 2015 and the Netflix release Bardo: False Chronicle of A Handful of Truths in 2022, Iñárritu took a break.

Regarding Cruise, there are several projects he wants to work on, one of which is a highly anticipated space film directed by Doug Liman. However, based on the latest report, it appears that he will be working on the Iñárritu movie, which Legendary and Warner Bros. are negotiating to acquire.

Additionally, Cruise has expressed interest in Quentin Tarantino's next film, The Movie Critic, which may be his last. However, this new development appears to put an end to that possibility. However, given the nature of Tom Cruise, it would be impossible for him to attempt both simultaneously while piloting a ski-doo over a bus.
