Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DDC), claimed that everyone is going to work together to build a better Dhaka.
The DSCC mayor exchanged views with the concerned stakeholders on Monday at noon at the Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban under the Dhaka Metropolitan Coordination Master Plan (2020-2050).
Sheikh Taposh, said, "We want to move forward by coordinating the plans of various agencies, especially the Capital Development Authority, WASA, BTCL and others. We dream of building Dhaka as a developed capital of a developed country."
He said that everyone wants to move forward to fulfill that dream. The goal is to formulate a 30-year framework. Coordinate all the master plans that have already been adopted and everyone will move forward under that framework.
"We will move forward in coordination with all. We all have one goal in mind. It is to work for the welfare of the people, to serve the people and to transform Dhaka into a livable modern city," said the mayor.
In the light of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041, this integrated master plan is being formulated to build Dhaka as a developed capital. However, when looked at Dhaka city, it is noticed that Dhaka city has not been able to move forward at much speed.
The DSCC mayor said, "The well-thought-out preliminary opinion has come. It is very knowledgeable; it has enriched us a lot. In future we will sit separately with each organization. There are many elements of a modern city. All those elements will be included in the master plan. We will discuss each issue in stages."
The event was chaired by DSCC CEO Farid Ahmed. RAJUK Chairman ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority Executive Director Khandaker Rashidur Rahman, BTCL Director General Dr. Rafiqul Matia, Joint Commissioner (Traffic) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Syed Nurul Islam and senior officials of BIWTA, Bangladesh Railways, Roads and Highways Department, Bangladesh Water Development Board, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Department of Archeology were present at the occasion.
