A 19-month-old child died after drown in a pond in Pakundia on Wednesday. The incident took
place in Kurshakanda of Sukhia Union of the Upazila. Deceased Sajid is the son of Md. Nayan Mia of Ward No. 3.
According to local sources, the 19-month-old child Sajid was playing in the yard between approximately 9 am and 9:30 am.
After a while, Sajid's mother Seema Akhter started searching for him when she did not find him in the yard. At one point, Sajid's mother found Sajid floating in Khurshid Uddin's pond 50 yards east of the house.
Later the locals rescued him and took him to Pakundia Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Pakundia police station officer-in-charge Sarwar Jahan said that the body of the child was handed over to the family as there was no complaint from the family.
