Tk 8.47 cr distributed among Khulna farmers as incentives

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Khulna Zone has begun distribution of seeds and fertilizers instead of cash money to nearly two lakh listed farmers of the region.

Each of the farmers is getting the incentives for 10 kinds of agriculture crops against one bigha (33 shatak) land to enhance of Rabi Crops production in the current season.

Officials of the DAE, said the incentives, in terms of seed and fertilisers, is being distributed among the beneficiary farmers to assist them in cultivating 10 varieties of crops during the current Rabi season.

 “Of those, distribution of Agri-incentives for wheat, maize, mustard, groundnut, BT brinjal and Boro rice crops to be completed by the November while distribution for summer ‘Tiil’ and mungbean will end by December,” said Md Faridul Hasan, Additional Director of the DAE Khulna regional told BSS today.

Under the programme, each of the beneficiary farmers is receiving one to 20-kg seed of different crops, 10 to 20-kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and five to 10-kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilisers free of costs to cultivate crops on one bigha of land.

Taka 3, 87, 26,400 are being distributed as incentives to assist some 63,970 small and marginal farmers of Khulna. Taka 1, 95, 59,700 is being distributed among 44,350 farmers in Bagerhat. Taka 1, 24, 25,300 is being distributed among 52,000 farmers. Taka 1, 39, 88,600 crore is being distributed among 39,550 farmers of Narail, the DAE official said.

Faridul Hasan said, the farmers are getting incentives as per rules of the Ministry of Agriculture. They are getting seed and fertilizers from the authorized dealers of the government.

“Monitoring and rehabilitation committee in each upazila is being distributed government incentives headed by UNO, Upazila Agriculture Officer is the member secretary of the committee,” he said.

Farmers of the region are now very busy of producing Rabi crops, vegetables, he said, adding that government has taken various steps for increasing production in the agricultural sector
