Tk 76,000 fine realised in Ctg for defying electricity directives

The mobile court of the district administration imposed a fine of Tk 76,000 in 20 cases by raiding several big restaurants, TV showrooms, children's toy establishments, and community centers in Chattogram city for disobeying government directives to save electricity.

These establishments were fined on Saturday night from 8 pm to 11 pm.  Three executive magistrates of the district administration led the campaign.

According to district administration sources, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Omar Faruq imposed a fine of Tk 10,000 after raiding Bubu World on Saifuddin Khaled Road in the city.  He also fined a restaurant in the stadium area 10,000 taka, Tanur Kebab 5,000 taka and a total of 40,000 taka. Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Jisan bin Majed fined Jamal Khan's Sultan Dine, Sony Showroom 10,000 Taka and Lotto Showroom 5,000 Taka.  Executive Magistrate Himadri Khisa conducted raids and imposed a fine of 11 thousand taka on 4 institutions.

Deputy Commissioner Moha­mmad Mominur Rahman said that according to the instructions of the government, the executive magistrates of the Chattogram district administration are simultaneously conducting electricity saving operations in different areas of the city.  

UNO and ACELAND are running mobile courts in 15 upazilas of Chattogram.  Fines and warnings are being issued to those who ignore the government's instructions.  This operation will continue.
