Tk 2.2 lakh realised in fine in CCC eviction drive

Chattogram City Corporation organized a mobile court in the city on Wednesday.

Under the leadership of CCC Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nelly, more than 200 shops and establishments were cleared of illegal encroachment of roads and footpaths in the city's Agrabad commercial area, CGS building area, Lucky Plaza, Tigerpass area by occupying roads and footpaths.

 A fine of Tk 1 lakh 90 thousand has been imposed on 14 owners of buildings and business establishments for obstructing public movement by encroaching on public roads, footpaths and drains, enlarging parts of various buildings, occupying roads and drains and erecting slabs without permission, keeping goods of business establishments and obstructing public movement. 

Chattogram City Mayor's Private Secretary and Chief Cleaning Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem participated in the campaign.

 In another operation conducted by CCC Special Magistrate Manisha Mahajan, 13 persons were fined Tk 30,000 against 13 persons for occupying the roads and footpaths of Andarkilla Mor area from Laldighi Moor in the city and obstructing public movement by leaving construction materials.

 During the operation, officers and employees of the concerned departments of Chattogram City Corporation, RAB, Police and Chattogram Metropolitan Police assisted the magistrates.
