Timothée Chalamet surprised fans with a special appearance at a lookalike contest in Lower Manhattan. The Hollywood star delighted attendees by showing up unexpectedly, mingling with fans and posing for photos.

Videos and photos of Chalamet quickly went viral on social media, showcasing his casual blue sweater, pants, and cap, along with his neatly trimmed moustache. Fans embraced the contest's theme, dressing as various characters he has portrayed, including from "Wonka" and "Dune."

The event kicked off at Washington Square Park, where numerous lookalikes gathered. However, it drew police attention, leading to the organisers receiving a $500 fine for holding an "unauthorised costume contest." One participant was even escorted away in handcuffs, according to reports.

Paige Nguyen, a producer involved in the event, shared, "What began as a light-hearted joke quickly spiralled into chaos." After moving to a nearby playground, over a dozen contestants showcased their best Chalamet-inspired looks on a makeshift stage.

The contest concluded with 21-year-old Miles Mitchell winning the title. He wowed the crowd in a vibrant purple Willy Wonka costume, tossing candy from a briefcase.

On the acting front, Chalamet is set to star in "Marty Supreme," a biopic about ping pong legend Marty Reisman, and will portray a young Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown," releasing in December. His last major film was "Dune: Part Two."
