TikTok Invests $2.3m Mental Health Education, Launches Meditation Feature

TikTok has announced a $2.3 million global Mental Health Education Fund alongside a new in-app guided meditation feature designed to promote better sleep and emotional well-being. The initiative will support 31 mental health organizations across 22 countries through advertising credits and training programs.

The new meditation tool, part of TikTok's Sleep Hours feature, encourages users to wind down with calming exercises. For teens under 18, the feature is automatically enabled after 10 p.m., temporarily replacing their "For You" feed with meditation prompts. Internal tests showed 98% of teens opted to keep the feature active. Adult users can manually activate it via Screen Time settings.

“As mental health discussions grow in South Asia, we're proud to support this cultural shift through awareness campaigns and digital tools,” said Asma Anjum, TikTok’s Trust and Safety Regional Lead for South Asia. Research from JAMA Internal Medicine and Harvard Health confirms that just 10-15 minutes of meditation before bed can improve sleep and reduce anxiety.

The move reinforces TikTok’s broader wellness efforts, including educational feeds, parental controls, and safety tools, positioning the platform as both an entertainment hub and a promoter of digital well-being.
