Ambassadors of three Nordic countries – Denmark, Norway and Sweden proposed to strengthen ties with Bangladesh in order to boost green growth and investment flow. Their focus will be on renewable energy, blue economy, climate change and removing investment barriers in the country.
Moreover, they also emphasized the resolution of the Rohingya crisis through holding Myanmar responsible at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The countries also promised continued support to the country in hosting the refugee community residing in Cox’s Bazar camps.
Safe repatriation of the refugees was stressed by the ambassadors and they lauded Bangladesh for its humanitarian efforts towards Rohingyas. Several other important issues were discussed by the representatives of the countries including labour rights role of private sector, ocean pollution, climate change, river pollution, air pollution, women rights and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ambassadors of the Nordic countries termed the partnership with Bangladesh "very deep and long-lasting one". No doubt, strengthening our ties with these three nations will be invaluable in the long run. Their continued support to our nation, particularly on the Rohingya issue is a ray of hope for all involved.
Closer ties with Denmark, Norway and Sweden present amazing opportunities for our country as we strengthen our efforts to become a middle income nation by 2021. Our energy sector will be the most benefitted along with our export sector. To be able to collaborate with these countries will give our economy a huge boost and propel our national GDP to new heights. It will also bring in huge amounts of foreign investment for our country.
Collaboration with the Nordic countries in the energy sector, blue economy and climate change is imperative for the contemporary scenario in Bangladesh. Undoubtedly, the country will be able to reap the benefits of having close ties with these nations in the coming years.
