After enduring a heatwave for 37 days, thundershower accompanied with hailstorm brought a sigh of relief among the people in Chuadanga district on Monday. About 24 millimeter rain was recorded for around two hours on the day.
Some trees were up-rooted, tin-shed houses and many crops were damaged by the hailstorm, sources said.
This year, the highest temperature in the country was also recorded in Chuadanga a few days ago.
Jaminur Rahman, in-charge of Chuadanga Met Office said, rain with hailstorm started from 3:37 pm and it ended at 5:15 pm. He also said that 24 millimeter rain and 01 diameter hail were recorded in the district on the day. Later, a slight rain was also recorded at 7 pm on the day.
The rain has refreshed the trees and croplands. A breeze was blowing over the district. On the other hand, the sudden rain brought relief from the intense heat and eased people’s life. People of different professions, especially the day laborers and farmers, were seen working at their workplaces joyfully.
