Three Rohingya ‘terrorists’ held in Teknaf murder case

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested three members of the 'Zakir Bahini', a Rohingya terrorist group, in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar on Thursday night, who the APBn said are involved in the murder of a local youth.

APBn Cox's Bazar’s 16 Battalion Commander SP Md. Hemayetur Rahman said the operation was carried out at Shalbagan Rohingya Camp No. 26 in Hnila Union of Teknaf around 8 pm. The arrestees were identified as Md. Shafi, 30, son of Amir Hamza, Dost Mohammad, 37, son of Mulluk Ahmed and Zafar Hossain, 53, son of late Matar Hossain. All of them are resident Nayapara Registered Rohingya Camp in Teknaf.

SP Hemayetur said a group of robbers led by Rohingya terrorist 'Zakir Bahini' chief Zakir shot dead a local youth named Abdur Shukkur, 30, in Jadimura area adjacent to Shalbagan Refugee Camp No. 26 in Teknaf on Thursday morning. 

In the evening, APBN members raided various Rohingya camps, including Shalbagan No. 26 in Teknaf, to arrest those involved in the incident. At one point, three members of the terrorist ‘Zakir Bahini' were arrested from the Bazar area of Shalbagan Camp No. 26, he added.

The SP further said, “Among the three Md. Shafi is an active member of Zakir's gang and the other two were cooperating by providing information to members of the gang. All three of them have been handed over to Teknaf police station”.
