After Bangladesh won the first ODI by six wickets, we’ve picked out three West Indies players who are key to the tourists’ hopes of pulling off a comeback in the series.

Expectations were low from West Indies supporters when the playing squad left the Caribbean for Bangladesh earlier this month.

If an unlikely comeback is to be pulled off by a depleted West Indies unit in Bangladesh, though, several key men must step up.

Sunil Ambris was named as Jason Mohammed’s vice-captain ahead of the series and there’s a lot of responsibility on his shoulders at the top of the order.

Rovman Powell skippered the West Indies on a tour of Bangladesh in 2018 but was overlooked for the role this time around so he can concentrate on delivering as an individual.

The opening ODI of the series was Akeal Hosein’s first appearance in international cricket, but the left-arm orthodox took to the top level like a duck to water. He was by far the most impressive of the West Indies bowlers, taking 3/26 from his ten overs.

If the batsmen can perform in the next two games, the 27-year-old has the ability to be a match-winner with the ball, just as he was for the Trinbago Knight Riders during the most recent edition of the CPL.
