Three Allahr Dal’ activists, one arms vendor held

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained three suspected activists of banned militant group ‘Allahr Dal’ from the playground of Naurnagar Jafarpur Government Primary School in Chuadanga Sadar upazila. They were detained at about 8.20 PM on Thursday. 

The arrestees were identified as Ruhul Amin 40, son of Shamsul Huda of Kulchara village under the upazila, Kolom Mandal 39, son of Afzal Mondal of Gopinathpur village at the same upazila, and Nur Islam Pakhi 38, son of Abdur Razzak of Bhutiargati village in Jhenidah. However, 7 to 8 other activists managed to flee. 

They RAB personnel also seized some documents used for militancy and publicity activities. 

RAB-6 camp commander Masud Alam said on information that a group of youths were holding meeting on the premises of Jafarpur Primary School, they conducted the drive and arrested them. The arrestees were handed over to Chuadanga Sadar Police Station.   

Meanwhile, the RAB conducted a separate drive on Jhenidah-Jashore highway at Mithapukur of Kaliganj upazila and arrested an arms vendor. The RAB men seized four foreign pistols, four magazines and 13 rounds of fresh cartridges from his possession. 

The arrestee with arms was Joyeb Hossain Shakir, 42, of Barandipara area of Jashore town. He had been running arms trading in the guise of rickshaw vans battery selling agent in the locality for a long.
