A daring theft has been committed at Santhia Government College in Pabna. Thieves entered the educational institutional institute by cutting grill and breaking the lock. They ransacked the documents kept in the cupboard and looted Tk 8 thousand in cash.  On the same night, organised thieves broke into the office of Holy Crescent School and College in the same manner and looted Tk 21,000 in cash. It is initially believed that the incident may happen sometime during the day and night of Thursday (February 15).

Acting Principal of Santhia Government College Abdul Malek said that Abdul Jalil, the night guard of the college, was sick that night, so he was at home. Knowing the information, a group of organised thieves cut the grill of the washroom of the office, entered the office room of the principal and vice-principal, broke open the lock, ransacked documents of several cupboards and looted Tk 8,000. He said that the thieves took away some money but did not take the laptop or computer.

“On Friday morning, the night guard came to college and informed me (the principal) of the matter. On the other hand, on the same night, organized thieves broke open the door in the neighbouring Holy Crescent School and College and entered the office and looted Tk 21,000 in cash.”

Local residents believe that organised thieves in the area have committed this incident. Anwar Hossain, Officer -in –Charge (OC) of Santhia police station said that he sent police to the spot after learning about the matter.

Laptops, computers were many things but nothing was taken away. It seems mysterious. However, if I receive a written complaint, I will take legal action.
